Insure Packages in Endicia

Package insurance protects you if your packages become lost, stolen, or damaged during transit. While most carriers include some amount of default coverage for lost/damaged packages, you may want additional insurance for packages that contain higher-value items. In Endicia, you can purchase insurance from our partner ParcelGuard™.

For details on the default coverage provided by different carriers and service classes, see the Carrier Loss & Damage coverage section at the end of this article.

The amount you will be charged for the insurance will appear next to the field.

Insurance Amount Cannot Exceed Package Value

When you purchase additional insurance, the total amount cannot exceed the value of your package contents.

  3. Agree to the ParcelGuard terms and conditions.

  4. Continue creating your label like you normally would.

If you wish to cancel an insurance purchase after you have created the label (for instance, because the package will not be sent), please refund the shipment label. If you still want to ship the package, you can print a new label without insurance.

ParcelGuard Limitations

Certain items, like currency or perishables, cannot be insured. There are also certain products, such as mobile phones, televisions, and laptop computers, that can only be insured under certain conditions.

Here are a few noteworthy items that require Signature Confirmation services to qualify for ParcelGuard coverage:

  • Jewelry (includes necklaces, earrings, watches, rings, bracelets, broaches, etc.) with a value of $500.00 or more must be sent with the direct or adult Signature Confirmation Service provided by the carrier (must be signed for at delivery). This service is available by most carriers, often at an additional expense to their core shipping service.

  • Laptop computers (including tablets computers, iPads, and similar electronics) must be sent with the direct or adult Signature Confirmation Service provided by the carrier (must be signed for at delivery). This service is available by most carriers, often at an additional expense to their core shipping service. If a signature confirmation service is not available from the carrier, these items cannot be covered. Shipments sent without a carrier-provided signature confirmation service are excluded from coverage in their entirety.

  • Mobile telephones (including cell phones, smart phones, and similar) must be sent with the direct or adult Signature Confirmation Service provided by the carrier (must be signed for at delivery). This service is available by most carriers, often at an additional expense to their core shipping service. If a signature confirmation service is not available from the carrier, these items cannot be covered. Shipments sent without a carrier-provided signature confirmation service are excluded from coverage in their entirety.

Please see the ParcelGuard Terms and Agreement for a full list of excluded items, special insurance conditions, and full details on destination countries that cannot be insured.
