Reinstall a Printer Driver in Windows

A printer driver is the software that tells Windows how to communicate with and send print jobs to your printer. If the printer driver software becomes corrupted, you may experience issues when printing postage and labels from Endicia, such as:

  • The printer does not print at all

  • The print job is offset on the paper or label

  • A blank page or label is printed

  • The printed postage or shipping label is blurred, too dark, too light, etc.

This article will guide you through reinstalling the driver for your printer in Windows 10 or later. Follow the steps in the correct section below for the type of printer (inkjet/laser printer or Zebra thermal label printer) you are using.

Please see our ProLabel Express help article for detailed instructions on reinstalling the driver for a Endicia ProLabel Express printer.

Inkjet and Laser Printers

  1. Press the Windows + R keys together to open the Run dialog.

  2. Type control printers into the Open field and click the OK button.

The Devices and Printers window will open.

  3. Right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties.

  4. Select the Advanced tab. Then, click the New Driver button.

The Add Print Driver wizard will open.

  5. Click Next. Then, click the Windows Update button.

The list of available print drivers will be updated. This may take a few minutes.

  6. Select the correct Manufacturer and Printer from the list of available printers. Then, click Next.

  7. Click the Finish button to install the driver for your printer.

  8. Click OK to close the Printer Properties window.

Zebra Thermal Printer

  1. Click here to download the Zebra printer driver installer.

The download will start automatically. Once the download completes, open the Zebra_2023.4.exe file you just downloaded.

  2. Accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

  3. Leave the Installation Directory as C:\Seagull and click Next.

  4. Click Finish.

The driver installation wizard will be installed and will automatically open.

  5. Select Install printer drivers and click Next.

  6. Select your printer model from the list of available printers. Then, click Next.

  7. Verify that the correct printer port is selected. Then, click Next.

In most cases, the installer will detect the correct printer port for your printer.

  8. Enter a name for your printer in the Printer Name field, specify if this will be the default printer, and specify whether or not the printer will be shared. Then, click Next.

  9. Click the Finish button.

The printer driver will be installed. Click Close to exit the setup wizard.

After reinstalling the print driver for your Zebra printer, we recommend checking your printer properties and settings.
