Clear Desktop Browser Cookies & Cache

Sometimes it is helpful to clear the cookies and cache in your desktop browser. We've also included links to the web browser's help page, since these steps may change as new versions of browsers are released.

Chrome

Clear the Cache in Chrome

  1. Enter chrome://settings/clearBrowserData into the browser bar.

  2. Click Advanced at the top of the Clear browsing data window.

  3. Select the following:

    • Browsing history

    • Download history

    • Cookies and other site data

    • Cached images and files

  4. Choose the period of time to clear cached information in the Time range drop-down menu. To clear your entire cache, select All time.

  5. Click CLEAR DATA.

  6. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Safari

Clear the Cache in Safari

  1. Select Clear History or Clear History and Website Data from the Safari menu.

  2. Select the desired time range. Then, click Clear History.

  3. Quit Safari and re-open it.

Firefox

Clear the Cache in Firefox

  1. Select Clear Recent History from the History menu.

  2. If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.

  3. Select the desired range to clear from the Time Range drop-down menu. To clear your entire cache, select Everything.

  4. Click the down arrow next to Details to choose which elements of the history to clear. To clear your entire cache, select all items.

  5. Click Clear Now.

  6. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Edge

Clear the Cache in Edge

  1. Click the Hub icon.

  2. Click the History icon.

  3. Select Clear all history.

  4. Select Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data, and Cached data and files.

  5. Click Clear.

  6. After the All Clear! message appears, exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Opera

Clear the Cache in Opera

  1. Select Settings from the Opera menu. Then, select Privacy & Security and click Clear browsing data.

  2. Select The beginning of time from the Obliterate the following items from: drop-down menu.

  3. Select the following:

    • Browsing history

    • Download history

    • Cookies and other site data

    • Cached images and files

  4. Click Clear browsing data.

  5. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.
